Is the country doing enough to respect the athletes who spend their whole lives preparing for matches to make the country proud? Are the authorities doing enough to correct their mistake of not providing a supportive environment to such athletes?

 

These are some questions that will surely cross your mind as you come across Bajrang Punia’s heartfelt appeal to the public to come out in support of the wrestlers and other athletes in their fight against the Wrestling Federation of India and BJP politician Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, regarding sexual harassment of female athletes.

Bajrang Punia’s Message To The Public

 

Today (5th May 2023), the remarkable Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia posted on Twitter, “We fought for the pride of our country. Today we are fighting for the safety and honor of your champions. Please support us!” He posted a video along with Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik.

 

Many individuals, such as farmers and students from Delhi and its neighboring states, have joined the movement of the wrestlers, and they unanimously demand the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, for the charges of sexual harassment against him on multiple occasions.

 

 

 The Incident on Wednesday

 

Two days prior to this public message from Bajrang Punia, the protesting wrestlers had a tough time keeping their fight alive when the rain poured heavily in Delhi. As the wrestlers were trying to procure new mattresses as the old ones were wet due to the rain, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat claimed that a few male police officers pushed and abused them.
