Atiq Ahmed, in Jhansi. Asad was wanted in the murder case of lawyer Umesh Pal,
who was a witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Asad was on the run
since he was captured by a CCTV camera during the attack on Pal. Asad and his
co-accused, Ghulam, had a reward of ₹ 5 lahks on their heads. During the
encounter, Ghulam fired at the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force team, and as a
result, both of them were killed in the police's retaliatory action.
