Notorious Gangster-Turned-Politician Atiq Ahmed's Son Asad Killed in Encounter with UP Police

The Uttar Pradesh police encountered and killed Asad Ahmed, who was the son of the infamous gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, in Jhansi. Asad was wanted in the murder case of lawyer Umesh Pal, who was a witness in the 2005 murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal. Asad was on the run since he was captured by a CCTV camera during the attack on Pal. Asad and his co-accused, Ghulam, had a reward of ₹ 5 lahks on their heads. During the encounter, Ghulam fired at the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force team, and as a result, both of them were killed in the police's retaliatory action.


Wanted Murder Suspect Asad Ahmed Killed in Police Encounter in Jhansi

According to police sources, Asad had fled to Lucknow after the killing of Umesh Pal. After leaving Lucknow, Asad Ahmed traveled to Kanpur and Meerut before arriving in Delhi. From there, he made the decision to go to Madhya Pradesh but was stopped by the police in Jhansi while trying to cross the state border on a motorcycle. Asad was reportedly in disguise. According to sources from the police department, they received information about Asad's location from a source who was associated with Atiq Ahmed's gang.

Atiq Ahmed's son was killed in an encounter on the day of his court appearance

The encounter happened on the day when Atiq Ahmed was presented before the court for the same murder case, and he was subsequently sent to judicial custody for a duration of 14 days. Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician with over 100 cases against him, was convicted last month in a kidnapping case and sentenced to life imprisonment. The case pertains to the abduction of Umesh Pal in 2006, which is 17 years prior to his eventual killing.

After today's encounter, four people linked to Umesh Pal's murder have been gunned down According to reports, the police are currently searching for two individuals in connection with the incident, namely Guddu Muslim, who is said to have thrown a bomb during the shooting, and Sabir, who is believed to be another shooter. Additionally, Atiq Ahmed's wife, Shayista, is reportedly on the run from authorities.
