Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has finally voiced her opinion regarding the shooting of Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf on live media in Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi’s Strong Reactions to The Killings
The Congress leader expressed her displeasure stating
that the rule of law is of paramount importance in a democracy like India. In a
tweet, she said, "Criminals should be given the harshest punishment, but
it should be according to the law of the land. Playing with or violating the
rule of law and the judicial process for any political purpose is not right for
our democracy.”
Though Priyanka Gandhi refrained from taking any names
she couldn’t stress enough that the law of the country, written in the
Constitution, should be followed at all costs. The Congress general secretary
said, "Whoever does this, or gives protection to those who indulge in such
an act, should also be held responsible and the law should be strictly enforced
on that person". It should be the endeavor of all of us that the justice
system and the rule of law should be supreme in the country, Priyanka Gandhi
added.
CPI(M)
Reacts to The Incident
Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother
Ashraf were killed while they were being escorted to a hospital in Prayagraj by
the police. To the horror of those who were a witness to the gruesome murder,
three men, who posed as journalists n the middle of a media interaction shot
the brothers dead at point-blank range on Saturday night. The rashness shown by
the perpetrators has left the entire nation in shock. CPI(M) reacted to the
murders of the two brothers stating that how Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf
were murdered in the presence of a heavy police escort points towards official
connivance. “This must be seen in the background of the repeated spate of
encounter killings which are nothing but extra judicial murders”, CPI(M)
stated. They also alleged that Uttar Pradesh has turned into a “lawless state”.
