The president of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee announced that preparations for the Annakoot (Bhatuj) fair, scheduled to take place at Kedarnath Dham at midnight, a day before Raksha Bandhan, commenced on Tuesday. Speaking to ANI, Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee President Ajendra Ajay confirmed the initiation of preparations for the Annakoot (Bhatuj) fair at Kedarnath Dham.


The Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has adorned the temple with 15 quintals of flowers.

During this event, they will embellish the Swayambhu Shivling in the temple’s inner sanctum with freshly harvested Navanna (new grains).


It was noted that the tradition of hosting the Annakoot fair has persisted for generations, and this year, it falls on August 29.

During this fair, following a special worship ceremony, the head priest of the Dham adorns the Swayambhu Shiva Linga in the shrine with a paste made from freshly cooked new grains, Jhangora rice, and more. Subsequently, the darshan of this divine manifestation of Baba commences.


The coating is removed from the Swayambhu Shivling at 4 a.m. and ceremoniously immersed in a clean location.
