Following its initial release, the film Adipurush has undergone alterations to address objectionable dialogues. According to sources, the modified version of the movie is currently being shown in theaters. A subset of the film's devoted audience raised concerns about specific lines of dialogue, which drew inspiration from the Hindu epic Ramayana written by Valmiki. Criticism centered around certain phrases, written by lyricist-writer Manoj Muntashir, that were deemed lacking in reverence for the sacredness of the source material.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has now given its approval to the changes made in Adipurush on June 19, 2023. The film, initially cleared for release on June 12, 2023, has undergone re-certification as confirmed by the official CBFC website. The movie, which hit theaters on June 16, received a U certificate from the CBFC. Here is a compilation of the original lines and their revised versions:

Manoj Muntashir praised the studio's courageous decision to change those lines, acknowledging the logistical challenges it would entail. The director of Adipurush

Adipurush dialogues altered amid backlash; 'Jalegi tere baap ki' replaced with THIS line

There was an immediate backlash against the dialogues when they were released, as both critics and audience members found them jarring. The following day, during an interview with the Republic, Manoj Muntashir was questioned about this issue. In response, he stated that he had grown up listening to colloquial versions of the Ramayana. The day after that, during an interview with Aaj Tak, he clarified that Adipurush was not actually an adaptation of the Ramayana, but rather 'inspired' by it. Later that same day, he announced that the objectionable lines would be modified to respect the sentiments of the audience.

Earlier this week, Manoj Muntashir praised the studio's courageous decision to change those lines, acknowledging the logistical challenges it would entail. The director of Adipurush, Om Raut, expressed in the Republic interview that he prioritizes audience response over reviews. However, the movie seems to have received little interest, experiencing significant declines in box office numbers after a strong opening weekend. As of now, the film's worldwide gross collection amounts to Rs 395 crore after five days, despite being reportedly made with a budget of nearly Rs 500 crore.
