The Adani Group will step forward to shoulder the responsibility of providing school education  for the children who have tragically lost their parents in the devastating Odisha train accident. With the loss of over 270 lives, this initiative aims to offer these young individuals a ray of hope and support, ensuring their educational journey continues uninterrupted.

With profound sadness, our hearts go out to those affected by the tragic Odisha train accident. In light of this devastating event, we have made the decision that the Adani Group will undertake the crucial responsibility of ensuring the school education for the innocent children who have tragically lost their parents. As Gautam Adani expressed in his heartfelt tweet in Hindi, it is our collective duty to extend our support and provide strength to the victims and their families, paving the way for a brighter and promising future for these resilient children.


Odisha's Chief Secretary, Pradeep Jena, provided an update on the tragic incident, stating that the revised number of deaths in the incident stands at 275 after removing certain instances of double counting. Out of these 275 fatalities, 88 bodies have been successfully identified. Jena further informed that 170 bodies have been transported to Bhubaneshwar, where mortuaries and hospitals such as AIIMS, Capital Hospital, SUM, KIM, and AMRI Hospital are providing necessary services. The remaining bodies will also be sent to these facilities..


Regarding the injured, a total of 1,175 individuals have been referred to various hospitals for medical attention. As of Sunday morning, 793 injured passengers have been discharged, while the remaining 382 are still undergoing treatment. The Chief Secretary mentioned that this number will be updated as the situation progresses.


Meanwhile, the railway ministry reported that the restoration work at the accident site is in full swing. Officials are closely monitoring the progress of the restoration process to ensure a swift and efficient recovery.

The ongoing efforts to address the situation involve a dedicated workforce of over 1,000 individuals who are tirelessly engaged in the restoration work. In addition to their committed efforts, the ministry has deployed more than seven Poclain Machines, two Accident Relief Trains, and 3-4 Railway and Road Cranes to expedite the process. These resources are strategically positioned to provide effective support and aid in the recovery operations.
