Mumbai Will Begin a Chain Protest :-
Beginning from February 12, villagers from 23 villages will lead a chain protest against the developmental project of establishing a city in Panvel taluka called “Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Area (NAINA)”. Each village will discontinue all work for a day to oppose the project. According to former MLC Balaram Patil, CIDCO is taking land without compensation. Therefore, the goal of the Navi Mumbai chain protest is to inform villagers about the project and how it would seize their lands. Mumbai Will Begin a Chain Protest Mumbai Will Begin a Chain Protest NAINA project is a cooperative land development scheme under which villagers would get back 40% of the developed land from the total land area contributed to establish NAINA city in the Raigad district.  Execution of the Protest Commencing on February 13, one village will be closed for the day from 9 am to 4:30 pm. During this time, villagers will unite to chain protest against NAINA project and only essential services will be permitted.  As per the lead advocate of People’s Action Party, the initiative is not viable for villagers. “As per the assessment report, approximately 42% of land covered under NAINA project is multi-crop land. Thus, it would be consequential for villagers to survive if they give up these multi-crop lands and only receive 40% of the development land”, the leader advocate added.  CIDCO has also introduced Infrastructure Contribution Charges (ICC) for providing no-objection certificates (NOC) for all NAINA transactions, such as the sale and purchase of land and constructed premises. However, the developer organizations are opposing the planned ICC because they believe that the planned modifications would directly impact house purchasers whereas any additional burden will be passed on to end users.
